It seems like 2012 just began, yet already the end of January is quickly nearing! It's been a busy past couple weeks for me - 2 trips to Cleveland, lots going on at work, track season starting up at USF, and of course running! I'm into my 6th week of training since my break and have been putting in base miles along the Golden Gate Park trails and snowy bike paths of Ohio.
Two weeks ago I ran in the 2nd annual Bay Area Cross Challenge, put on by the Bay Area Track Club. A fun, low-key race in Golden Gate Park, it was a great chance to get in a hard tempo effort with my New Balance Silicon Valley teammates. We finished 1-5 in the race - not a bad day for NBSV ;)
Flotrack's Kevin Selby came out to the meet and biked alongside us as we ran, capturing the race highlights on video:
Kevin also interviewed me after the race - you can see the interview here:
Running hard over foggy, misty trails with good friends made for a great way to a Sunday morning :) And as an added bonus, we all took home some nice prize money - wohoo! Post-run brunch with my family made the already good day even better.
Showing off our prize money! $$$ |
I'm back to racing again this weekend - this time I'll be dropping down in distance to run an indoor 3k up in Seattle. 3000 meters is a tad shorter than I'm used to, but it should be a nice tune-up for the USA XC Nationals in St. Louis in February. I'm excited for track season to officially begin!
Until next time... run joyfully!
